Mestre Watutsi - Tata King N'Golo
Video 1 Video 2
Master of the arts of Capoeira, he learned with Mestre Gato Preto, who dedicated his capoeira to rescue the rituals of the game. Mestre Gato Preto was an excellent musician, who created various ways of playing the berimbau, established different cadencias of training the game itself. He formed Watutsi Tata King N'Golo in the year 1987.
N'Golo is the name of a dance in Angola, which originated the Capoeira in Brazil, Tata means master in Ki N'bundu.
In Salvador Watutsi transformed the historic Forte Sto.Antonio into the cultural centre "Centro de Cultura Popular", where the Capoeira masters João Grande, João Pequeno and Morais then installed their academies.
Today the work of Watutsi maintains the heritage of afrobrazilian culture. Whereas the Capoeira is threatened to be reduced to an acrobatic sport he is dedicated to the wholeness of Capoeira with defense-attack, music and singing, dance and maculélé, malicia and healthiness of the body. He also teaches younger professors and instructors of Capoeira in didactics and how to pass the culture of Capoeira to Europeans in an intercultural appropriate way. The integration of Capoeira and the capoeiristas is in the centre of Tata King N'Golos commitment. His own event by the name of Capoeira das Maes takes place in Hamburg, Germany.
In Europe he cooperates with different masters and schools like Nzinga, Meia Lua inteira in Hamburg, Brasa Brasil in Bielefeld and Vienna, Beribazu in
Bristol and Warschau and with Jangada - Grupo Vadiação (M. Rosalvo) in Berlin.
